Robert Half Network Engineer in Houston, Texas

Description We are in search of a Network Engineer based in Houston, Texas, 77034, United States. This role entails supporting the design, implementation, and operations of information systems, including network, security, infrastructure, and other information systems. The employment type for this role is contract to hire.

Responsibilities:

• Provide operational support for the IT infrastructure environment on a daily basis.

• Lead IT infrastructure projects from initiation to completion, including project planning, resource allocation, and coordination with other teams and stakeholders.

• Troubleshoot, remediate, and perform root-cause analysis on systems ranging from servers, storage, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Windows Servers to VMware and other related technologies.

• Respond to incident threats and conduct threat analysis on security alerts to determine the threat's validity and escalate if warranted.

• Conduct research on new and existing technologies, recommend changes, and standardize configurations to provide a secure, reliable, and highly available computing environment and protect the assets.

• Identify opportunities to improve IT infrastructure performance, reliability, and security and lead initiatives to implement process improvements and technology enhancements.

• Audit information systems and the established information security framework to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, controls, and policies.

• Establish, maintain, and test effective disaster recovery plans, including incident response processes and procedures.

• Respond to off-hour alerts, calls, emails, or notifications to ensure security, operational efficiency, and uptime.

• Assist with other duties as determined. Requirements • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role in Information Technology.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, Office 365, and VMware.

• Solid understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.

• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.

• A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.

• Possessing professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP) is preferred.

• Problem-solving skills to address network issues in a timely manner.

• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with colleagues and clients.
