BWC Terminals Regional Manager in Houston, Texas

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, BWC Terminals is a premier provider of bulk liquid storage and logistics services to refiners, manufacturers, and distributors of bulk liquids in North America. The Company consists of 22 sites with over twenty million barrels of storage capacity. PURPOSE: Oversees the summary of the operations, productivity, efficiencies, financials, capital improvements, staffing requirements and regulatory compliance of applicable terminals. Supervises terminal managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Below is a list of essential duties of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Makes recommendations to management on corporate strategies, objectives, projects and policies for the company. Assists in implementing operational activities for strategies, objectives, projects and policies. Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs.

Analyzes and interprets information to determine source of problems and/or opportunities and leads discussions to minimize problems and maximize opportunities.

Provides management with timely reviews of the company’s operational status and progress in its various programs and activities.

Reviews P&L statements monthly with terminal managers. Reviews monthly billings and tank usage reports. Works with terminal managers to help make the terminal profitable.

Develops with terminal managers annual operating budgets.

Works with and provides advice to sales department in reviewing and qualifying business. Liaises or resolves sales/customer issues as needed.

Provides insight and advice to sales department and engineering in costing projects.

Provides advice to terminal managers regarding staffing issues. Reviews any on-site incidents.

Develops and maintains an improvement plan in conjunction with the investment limits set by management.

Develops and submits for approval CAPEX’s. Maintains the company’s systems of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.

Supervises the activities of terminal managers. Responsible for staff recruitment, training, performance management, compensation, and discipline.

Assists the regional HSES representative in developing, implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures to promote and ensure a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Ensures regulatory compliance.

Works with Human Resources to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and/or bargaining unit contracts as well as local, state and federal laws. Coordinates activities with Human Resources to ensure that recruitment, retention, employee relations, performance management, and other human resource issues are effectively and efficiently carried out.

Prepares and timely submits various management reports as requested.

Demonstrates commitment to the Responsible Care system. Effectively communicates the policies and procedures of Responsible Care to stakeholders. Promotes Responsible Care throughout the Company.

Maintains good working relationships, acts professionally and positively represents Westway.

Maintains confidentiality.

Travels to the terminal sites on a regular, ongoing basis.

Participates in relevant and mandatory training and Board meetings.

Takes the initiative to identify problems, uses judgment to find appropriate solutions and follows through on resolving issues in a timely manner.

Supports team efforts, actively works to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperates with others, and actively learns from other team members.

Interacts and communicates with clients/tenants and other staff in a professional and appropriate manner and responds to and gives feedback in a respectful and positive manner.

Reports to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position and willing to perform the duties as workload necessitates.

Employee is expected to complete required training in a timely manner; perform duties in a safe and environmentally sound manner; and immediately report injuries/illnesses, environmental spills/releases, and any unsafe acts or conditions to supervision in support of continual improvement of the company's health, safety, environmental, and security performance.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/LICENSES:

  • BA/BS in Management or similar degree

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six years of terminal/refinery experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, financial reports and legal documents.

  • Project management knowledge.

  • Experience and ability in working with and evaluating contractors and subcontractors and similar vendors.

  • Ability to create and monitor budgets and skill in cost estimates.

  • Knowledge of pertinent laws, codes, and regulations.

  • Customer service focus.

  • Ability to effectively present information, communicate with, and respond to questions and complaints from co-workers, management, customers, and the general public.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures.

  • Proficient with computers and applicable software (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Ability and experience in managing staff.

Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly exposed to a moderate noise level due to office equipment and co-workers and moderate exposure to Video Data Terminals (VDTS).

Physical Requirements/Activities: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and operate tools and equipment, reach with hands and arms, balance, kneel, bend, carry, reach, push, pull, lift, twist, grip, and communicate (talk and hear). 80% of the time is stationary/sitting. Specific vision abilities required include close vision. Up to 80% air and automobile travel. Sustained mental effort is regularly required.
