The Technical Area Lead (TAL) serves as the Integrated Mission Operations Contract III (IMOC III) first-level manager assigned to the Johnson Space Center’s (JSC’s) Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) management team supporting the CO3 Mission Operations Integration & Planning Branch.

This position is responsible for ensuring CO32 Vehicle Operations & Systems Integration Group’s technical services that are tasked on IMOC III which support training, operations, and development for International Space Station (ISS), Commercial Crew Program (CCP), and Exploration’s Artemis mission including the Gateway and Human Lander Systems (HLS) Programs.

The TAL will manage employees who provide an integration function between the Mission Control Center in Houston (MCC-H) and the International Partner (IP) Control Centers (CC) and provides support for the Houston Support Group (HSG) located in MCC-Moscow as well as other IP control centers as required. This group’s employees also provide systems integration between MCC-H/ISS and visiting vehicles approaching and mating to the ISS US segment such as commercial crew vehicles (Dragon and Starliner), CRS-2 commercial cargo vehicles (Dragon, Cygnus, and Dreamchaser) and JAXA’s H-II Transfer Vehicle-X (HTV-X). Employees also provide systems integration for ISS hardware related to visiting vehicle operations such as the Common Communications for Visiting Vehicles (C2V2) system. This group has certified front room console controllers, backroom certified console positions, and certified instructors.

The TAL performs day-to-day supervisory duties and oversees personnel activities. The TAL will dedicate the majority of his/her time attending to customer relations and employee oversight with the balance of their workload going to support other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead, manage, and supervise the technical teams supporting CO32• Develop and maintain successful professional relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports• Manage budget, staffing, and personnel performance to ensure all task order requirements are successfully met• Report contract budget and employee performance status to CO3 management on a regular basis• Implement process improvements that benefit the customer• Assist in technical assignments as designated by the NASA management teamQUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS• General understanding of the FOD overall mission and associated Plan/Train/Fly concepts• Proven experience as a capable contributor to Flight Operations technical tasks and the ability to support assignments associated with IMOC III task orders• Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate with peers and direct reports in a very dynamic, fast-paced organization• Ability to tactfully handle personnel issues• Experience recruiting and interviewing• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently• Experience working with the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) management team with knowledge of Exploration, Commercial Crew, Gateway, and ISS operations is preferred.Requires Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related experience.
