Reference #: 4547425 THE POSITION The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at Bald Eagle State Park is seeking an individual with expertise in environmental education, education, natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation. As an Environmental Education Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and delivering environmental education, interpretation, and outdoor recreation programs and activities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this position, you will be responsible for organizing and leading educational and interpretive activities related to the environment and history. This includes conducting discovery learning activities, audiovisual presentations, teacher workshops, guided walks, and other educational programs. Additionally, you will collaborate with local tourism agencies, concessionaires, outfitters, and partners to develop and promote interpretive programs that introduce park visitors to the outdoors.

Another aspect of your role will involve providing park visitors with information about park facilities, activities, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, history, environmental features, services, points of interest, and nearby state parks. You will also be responsible for maintaining all environmental education and recreational equipment and supplies, as well as assisting with the upkeep of informational kiosks and exhibits within the park. This includes ensuring that the environmental education information aligns with the department, bureau, and regional philosophies and goals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits. Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch. Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Conditions of Employment:

Willingness to work weekends and evenings. Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
