Become a part of something IMPACT-ful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks.

The GMD Weapon System processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.

We are hiring multi-level Engineers in Huntsville, Alabama!! Some of the these exciting Ground Missile Defense Engineer Roles include:

- Parts, Materials & Processes Engineer

- Safety Engineer

**An ACTIVE U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance is required for all roles.**

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline

• Minimum of two (2) years relevant engineering experience.

• Active U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

• Master’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline

Experience in any of the following areas:

• C, C++, Java, Python, Ada, GoLang, Cython, Bash, Javascript, SQL, Mongo DB

• Recent GMD GS/GWS model development

• Working in an Agile environment

• Developing code in a Dev Ops environment using Bitbucket or GitHub

• Windows/Unix OS environment experience

• Developing software in Object Oriented programing language

• Software development for embedded systems

• Writing code Ada, C++ & Python

• Review & verification of system level software requirements

• Kubernetes

• Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

• Software test execution

• Finite Element/Finite Difference analysis

• Solidworks or CAD

• Mechanical design, analysis, assembly and integration and environmental testing

• Design and development of precision mechanical components and assemblies

• Microsoft Office Tools

• Engineering drawings, BOMs & maintenance lists

• Reading & understanding of technical data

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.

• Able to work independently or as a member of a team

• Good interpersonal skills

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
