POSITION OVERVIEW:

Seeking a highly qualified Directed Energy (DE) Systems Engineer in the Huntsville, AL area supporting a Project Office at Redstone Arsenal. Develops plans and provides technical expertise in formulating data driven decisions about the progress of prototype DE weapon system(s) technical maturity. Applies broad, comprehensive knowledge of functional policies, procedures, and techniques and reviews and recommends revisions for engineering processes, policies, and standing operating procedures, ensuring full integration with Government policies and procedures. The Candidate will assist the Government Program Manager in the following mission areas: Planning, developing, and executing the program by providing researched and detailed advice; prioritizing issues for the Program Manager and filter issues as assigned; and preparing briefings, information papers, and talking points for the Program Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Support in Systems Engineer design, development, integration, and analytic support for DE prototype development.

Review and define System Engineering requirements in support of mission analysis, sensor/C2 design engineering/verification, DE system performance analysis and follow-on DE prototyping efforts.

Review and evaluate Systems Engineering specifications, development plans, designs, technical data packages, and software packages.

Lead the resolution of complex hardware, software and/or integration problems within appropriate Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), engage with internal and external organizations, and help identify solutions that meet or exceed client requirements.

Interface with other government organizations and contractors to facilitate system engineering and acceptance test reviews.

Develop and present briefings, analysis, and reports to government customer and provide recommended course of action in concise format.

Desired Qualifications:

Wide range of experience including system engineering, system testing, system fielding

Experience with government directed energy/radar/electronic warfare

Experience in PWS/SOW evaluation and writing

Required Experience:

Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline

5-10 years of experience in Systems Engineering

Required Skills:

Active Secret / Top Secret Eligible

Demonstrated knowledge and application of Systems Engineering to system development and requirements analysis.

Strong ability to multitask in a high paced environment and operate independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to present complex material to government customer concisely with recommended course of action.

Proficiency in MS Office and MS Teams.

Mechanical Aptitude - Ability to work with the OEM to evaluate solutions for Technical Insertion Points.

Software Aptitude - Ability to work with the OEM to evaluate ability of software to operate effectively and protect warfighters.
