Chemonics' Asia Division is conducting a recruitment for aSenior Associate, Water and Sustainable Cities (WSC) Practice Management Team(PMT). The WSC PMT, housed in the Asia division, advances Chemonics' technical excellence and development impact through a multidisciplinary approach. We work alongside local partners and service providers to overcome complex and inter-connected challenges to achieve lasting water security and sustainable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for all. Through better governance, increased financing, improved evidence, and expanded private sector participation, Chemonics delivers catalytic change across the sector. The WSC Practice also provides a range of urban-specific expertise, including in solid waste management and climate resilience planning, to strengthen municipal governance and accountability, increase domestic resource mobilization, and improve essential service delivery. WSC PMT’s portfolio currently consists of $220+ million in USAID programming and additional sub-components of interdisciplinary programs with water security, sanitation, and hygiene (WSSH) and urban resilience emphasis. The WSC PMT also advises a robust forward market through the $300 million Water and Development II IDIQ and WSSH and sustainable cities-focused stand-alone opportunities. This rolerequires on-site work in our Washington, DC office location as part of our hybrid, flexible work structure.We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Supports proposal development by performing line roles including, corporate capability writer, past performance writer, or technical researcher, among others

  • Attends strategy sessions early in capture to understand the competitive landscape, client preferences, potential partners and personnel, and offers innovative or evidence-based approaches for consideration by proposal leaders

  • Provides administrative support in furtherance of relationships and engagement with clients, consultants, and counterparts to advance successful new business opportunities

  • Responsible for data entry and record-keeping to enable the Practice to track, analyze, and share development trends and sector and sub-sector performance.

    Technical Approaches

  • At the request of Practice leadership, conducts research, organizes information, liaises, or otherwise administratively supports the provision of demand-driven technical support to projects in the technical portfolio to ensure quality implementation of innovative, integrated, and/or evidence-based approaches

  • Supports connections among Chemonics’ projects implementing similar approaches to learn from one another

  • Researches cutting-edge tools, frameworks, or approaches available within the industry for potential project piloting and adoption

  • Maintains records for a cadre of staff and consultants globally with expertise in varying sub-specialties within the technical area

  • Supports documentation of project innovation and learning to repurpose for proposal, other project, and external use.

    Industry Outreach and Client Engagement

  • Provides administrative support in the furtherance of collaborative working relationships with USAID technical staff, strategic partners, and stakeholders, and continually promotes outstanding client service and technical leadership

  • Provides ongoing administrative management to Chemonics’ Indefinite Quantity Contracts, as assigned

  • Supports efforts to highlight the work of our global practitioners in international fora; provides administrative support to cohorts of attendees at priority conferences

  • Partners with new business and outreach teams to position Chemonics externally for forward market opportunities

  • Organizes logistics for internal and external, virtual or in-person practice meetings, presentations, consultations, and events

  • Represents Chemonics as a participant at external events and/or in professional societies/associations

  • Administers Chemonics’ memberships to industry organizations

  • C onducts research for articles, blogs, video, or audio content for publication on social and other media to position Chemonics externally for the forward market.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of technically relevant work experience required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Master’s degree preferred in related field.

  • Education, knowledge, or work experience in the technical discipline.

  • Familiarity with business development efforts for USAID or other donors.

  • Ability to multitask with strong attention to detail, organization, and time management with minimum oversight.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle routine administrative tasks and operational issues.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision, and contribute to projects and initiatives.

  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of 4-8 weeks per year; experience working on technical programs in developing countries preferred.

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and initiative to learn new skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to take initiative.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

  • Foreign language proficiency preferred.

    The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $55,760 - $69,700.

    An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
