Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

In alignment with the mission, programs and initiatives of MSU Extension, delivers research-based information to program participants through various methods and/or provides support and coordination of MSU Extension programs.

The person would provide support for the Apple Community Education Initiative in Ingham County. Responsibilities would include connecting with youth organizations and schools to develop and deliver interactive programs among students in the East Lansing and Lansing School Districts. Responsibilities would include meeting with partners, developing schedules/program plans, promoting programs and submitting reports to funders. This position will involve using Apple iPads with students in k-12 in hands-on interactive activities.

Position Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of and ability to implement Civil Rights principles and compliance standards.

  • Combination of education and specific, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Ability to lift and carry educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge, and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques, which reflect an understanding and awareness of social, cultural and economic diversity of the target population served.

  • Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to diverse audiences/communities and proven ability in establishing and working with a diverse network of constituents and community members across race, color, gender, national origin, gender identity, religion, age, height, weight, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, veteran status, socioeconomic class, and other differences.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Travel in local and surrounding communities and occasional long-distance travel are required as a regular part of this position.

  • Proficiency in use of technology (e.g., web research, Zoom, Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for mail/calendaring, distance technology, etc.).

  • Other skills and/or physical abilities required to perform duties of the position.
