As part of the HR team and reporting to the Sr Director, Global Employee Relations, the Associate HR Employee Relations (ER) Consultant plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and productive work environment by managing employee relations and promoting a culture of fairness, equity, and compliance within the organization.

This role will provide dedicated assistance to employees and managers located in our Distribution Center and is required to be in-office a minimum of 3 days per week. Knowledge of HR policies, labor laws, and conflict resolution will be necessary in maintaining a harmonious and inclusive workplace for our valued employees. The Associate ER Consultant will focus on partnering with the Global Business Process Outsourcer (BPO) in ensuring a positive employee experience.

What you'll do:

Employee Services

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to employees at every step of their Cengage journey; providing care, guidance and coaching while effectively mitigating business risk.

  • Build a performance-based culture by engaging with managers and employees; coach managers on nurturing high performance and addressing under-performance on their teams.

  • Provide guidance to employees and managers within the Distribution Center location as well as HR team members on a wide variety of HR processes, programs, policies, and tools.

  • Conduct HR Orientation and other new hire activities for all Distribution Center hires

  • Provide guidance to leaders managing highly sensitive employee relations matters including performance management, terminations, and other employment-related matters.

  • Escalate or transition requests to proper channels, ensuring a ‘warm’ handoff and exceptional customer service.

  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and develop solutions to drive efficiencies.

  • Liaise with the BPO to respond to escalated employee and manager needs with efficiency and care.

HR Excellence:

  • Ensure the seamless delivery of our employee experience, driving service excellence with a focus on efficiency and consistency in the experience we deliver.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders to improve the employee experience, share information and influence change.

  • Educate business leaders/people managers on operating/service delivery model of HR - creating awareness and setting expectations of how they’ll engage and partner

  • Actively contribute to the global HR community to increase the capability and strategic value of the human resource function through high levels of performance and customer service.

  • Share best practices and seek input on solutions to tough problems.

  • Partner with members of the HR team on specific projects on an as needed basis

Skills You Will Need Here:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or requisite experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a prior HR role

  • Experience working with Workday HCM including Workday Help module

  • Ability to communicate ideas and data in a persuasive and appropriate manner.

  • Strong coaching, conflict resolution and ability to have difficult conversations

  • Strong organization, planning and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for both self and team

  • Collaborative, innovative and customer-focused

  • Must possess the ability to thrive in a team-based environment and work effectively with employees of all levels

  • Ability to travel as needed; a few times each year on average

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$52,000.00 - $83,200.00 USD
