Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Technician to join our Infrastructure Operations team.
AWS is a fast paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. This position involves hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and may include participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to hardware and network repair candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and fix problems within the Data Center space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.
Key job responsibilities
As a Data Center Technician you are a member of a team responsible for the operation of industry leading, geographically diverse, large scale, and critical facilities. Each team member is a highly motivated individual with demonstrated, analytical expertise in the areas of complex, mission critical facilities.
A day in the life
Working to meet service level agreements (SLA’s) against assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow
Being first line touch point for hardware troubleshooting and network issues
Performing regular server hardware repairs (drives, motherboards etc)
Carrying out routine network, server hardware and operating system (OS) related requests
Working with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to complete routine work
Adhering to security and safety best practices in the data center
Identifying and help create documentation and process improvements relevant to the data center environment
Performing server upgrades, rebuilds, scheduled works as required

Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of server hardware and components
Knowledge of TCP/IP networks
2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of computer networking experience
Experience working in a colocation data center facility
Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $42,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $106,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
