The Senior Patient Care Coordinator performs a wide variety of duties associated with patient services. This position is responsible for all components of the patient experience ranging from patient in-take, office visit, patient close-out, and appointment scheduling. The position also oversees the reporting function for the clinic including compliance specific reports as well as corporate statistics.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Occasional weekends and holidays required.

Location: This position is a remote opportunity for candidates located near 7 Technology Drive, Irvine, CA

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares weekly reports including documentation for management regarding the status of appointments and general patient information

  • Utilize resources such as DOFR/Contracts/Health Plan websites and matrixes to identify preferred providers and to resolve issues

  • Reviews referral information for accuracy of content and available benefits

  • Provide status of referral request to providers, patients, and health plans

  • Approves authorizations based on directions from the Medical Director or UM Committee

  • Communicates with members, physicians, specialists, community agencies, and vendors to ensure coordination of services

  • Maintains confidentiality of all PHI in compliance with state and federal law and company policy

  • Assists with coordination of resources, pharmacy calls, referrals, authorizations, health plan benefit coordination, and general clerical support for UM nurses and physicians

  • Acts as a subject matter expert and assists other care coordinators with more difficult referrals and tasks as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

  • 2+ years of experience in a medical, managed care, or health care setting

  • Intermediate level of knowledge with Microsoft Office programs, CPT and ICD-10 codes

  • Ability to mentor and train others

  • Possess a basic knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program

  • At least one year of experience in a lead position

California Residents Only: The hourly range for California residents is $19.47 to $38.08 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
