Job Description

Job Summary

The Manager Data Operations is responsible for leading the Data Operations team that supports enterprise batch processing utilized by the core business departments at Exeter. This includes working with multiple support tiers to quickly restore planned and unplanned job failures. In addition, this position, along with the team, will establish proactive monitoring, maintain the batch scheduler, and seek to continuously improve the overall data exchange environment

Job Duties

  • Leads a proactive approach to data operations by expanding upon existing methodologies, processes, and tools to deliver quality end results while continuing to develop, mentor staff, and drive continuous initiatives.

  • Manages the planning, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting based on data operational needs. This entails leading and managing a 24/7/365 operations organization that will require off-hours coverage across shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary.

  • Develop and leverage industry standard reporting metrics through usage of KPI’s, SLA’s and OLA’s.

  • Evaluates the application support models, as they evolve, to identify enhancement or efficiency opportunities.

  • Enhances and executes the short, immediate, and long-term application support structures and collaboratively create plans for service delivery at or above agreed service levels.

  • Manage, lead, develop, and mentor staff and drive continuous initiatives. Works with staff on career development and advancement opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

  • College Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.

  • Eight (8) plus years of Operations and/or Engineering experience with enterprise job scheduling solutions such as Control-M, Jenkins or ActiveBatch.

  • Three (3) years writing or supporting MS SSIS / SSRS technologies

  • Two (2) years management experience in Data Operations, Database Administration, Data or Auto Finance preferred.

  • Experience operating in a regulated environment and responding to auditing requests and requirements. Experience with SOX a plus.

  • Proven ability to manage in a matrix environment and partner with business area representatives in leading and supporting delivery activities.

  • Understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.

  • Familiarity with enterprise level Service Management tools (e.g. Service Now)

  • Application and infrastructure components as they relate to distributed scheduling, Powershell scripting, Advanced SQL skills, Secure File Transfer (SFTP)

  • Knowledge of Service Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and related processes.

  • Experience in Release Management and related processes.

  • A drive to lead the response and remediation of incidents and determine preventative measures to avoid further occurrences.
