The Opportunity


The Leadership Programs Administrative Assistant is a vital member of the Leadership Programs team, ensuring excellence in leadership development. This role supports and coordinates event-related logistics for leadership programming, manages the department's administrative tasks, and enhances the department's presence both on campus and online.


This position is Part-time (20 hours per week) and Fixed Term (Ends on 6/30/2026)


Key Responsibilities


Event Planning:

  • Organize, coordinate, market, and execute leadership-related events, including seminars, workshops, expeditions, case competitions, classes, cohort learning programs, and guest speakers.
  • Handle logistics such as budget estimates, catering, meeting venues, scheduling, registration, materials, student credit, and problem resolution.
  • Maintain high visibility with students, faculty, staff, and guests.
  • Manage vendor relationships.

General Department Support:

  • Perform standard and advanced administrative duties.
  • Partner with the associate director to manage the Leadership Programs budget; process business expense reimbursement transactions (BERTS), purchase orders (POs), contracts, etc.
  • Arrange appointments and meetings for the Leadership Programs team.
  • Maintain the internal team calendar and Leadership Programs elements of the school's Campus Groups calendar.
  • Make travel arrangements and process expense reports for department-related travel.
  • Reference project management plans to support department activity execution.
  • Coordinate student applications and surveys for leadership programs/experiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other Johnson and Cornell staff.
  • Coordinate the Johnson 360 leadership assessment process for all incoming MBAs.
  • Maintain and update Canvas course sites, Campus Groups, and the Leadership Programs pages of the Johnson website.
  • Assist with internal marketing of leadership events, including email campaigns, online advertising, poster design, and post-event PR.

What We Need

  • Associate's degree with two or more years of experience, or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing and administrative skills required.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events.
  • Ability and ease with both written and verbal contacts with faculty, staff, students, program applicants and administrators throughout Cornell and at other institutions.
  • A keen attention to detail, ability to work independently and to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and an ability and interest to learn new software and technology broadly.
