US Tech Solutions Laboratory Assistant in Jersey City, New Jersey
Duration: 06 Months Contract (Possible Extension)
Provide general assistance to greenhouse trials including growing plants, maintaining fertilization treatments, supporting measurements, and destructively harvesting plants.
Provide general assistance to standard molecular biology workflow such as DNA extraction, quantification, microbiological workflow such as growing microbes in lab, CFU (Colony Forming Unit) estimation
Collaborate with a team to design, develop and implement in-vitro assays to study the interaction of beneficial microbes and microbial communities relevant to agriculturally relevant crops such as corn, soybean etc.
Aid in developing novel or improving implemented protocols for evaluating plant-microbe interactions.
Help maintain lab safety compliance.
Responsible for standard microbiological lab equipment specific to research expertise, including basic maintenance.
Contribute to the overall improvement of microbiology functional platforms, collaborate with other RandD functions.
Make oral and written reports/presentations from assays to enable stakeholders to make appropriate decisions
Secure IP Protection.
Skill and Competency Requirements:
Relevant experience in the beneficial plant microbe interaction, soil science, soil microbiology, microbial biology, Plant Molecular Biology and/or closely related fields
Scientific background in Biologics or related field and experience with interdisciplinary approaches to solve scientific challenges
Capable of working both within a group and independently on assignments. Flexibility and being a team player is essential for this function

Effectively communicate (written and verbal) research findings.

Education: B.S. with Minimum 2 years work experience in relevant field of plant physiology and/or Microbiology/Molecular Biology
