Position Summary:

The Director of Monitoring and Assessments, Medsurg Neurotechnology (MSNT) will drive the strategic development and execution of compliance monitoring plans for the MSNT Group. Collaborating closely with Senior Compliance Officers and their teams, this role is instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness of the GCP Program in reducing and understanding compliance risk within the MSNT. As a key member of the Compliance Monitoring & Third-Party Programs (CMT) Team, the Director provides critical insights into compliance performance, influences decision-making, and coordinates with leadership and Compliance Officers across Stryker's business units.

In addition to developing and managing the framework, processes, tools, and resources for compliance monitoring and assessments, this role includes overseeing auditing and forensic investigations. This role will also partner with the Compliance Systems & Analytics team to integrate automation and technology for enhanced insights and continuous improvement. The Director will oversee operational aspects of compliance monitoring across MSNT, encompassing the planning, execution, and management of assessments, audits, and investigations as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Compliance Monitoring Program Development & Execution:

  • Oversee the design, development and maintenance of monitoring and assessment programs to provide business insights, enable risk-intelligent decisions, inform the compliance risk assessment process, and support remediation activities.

  • Capability to perform all aspects of the monitoring and assessments program, including supporting compliance risk assessment (scoping), assisting in annual plan development (planning), executing plans using various techniques (fieldwork), evaluating findings (analysis), and applying professional judgement.

  • Prepare and communicate concise reports of findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Program Administration and Monitoring:

  • Oversee the compliance program's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure program element effectiveness (e.g. policy and process) aligns with Compliance Program goals.

  • Stay updated on regional and industry-specific compliance regulations and trends, incorporating latest monitoring and assessment techniques.

Compliance Program Support and Risk Management:

  • Provide insights to enable the development and improvement of compliance programs and initiatives.

  • Engage in processes for identifying and evaluating organizational risks, contributing significantly to the development of a risk-based compliance program.

  • Be a resource for regional Compliance and Legal Investigations teams by providing forensics support on select investigations.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for maintaining an understanding of key auditing/assessment and monitoring concepts, techniques, and relevant risk areas (e.g., fraud, ABAC, conflict of interest)

  • Demonstrates ability to manage and support change in a dynamic environment

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of reports and presentations summarizing monitoring, assessments, and remediation for senior leadership and external government agencies as requested.

  • Exercise independent judgment to make decisions of moderate impact to the company.

  • Develop strong relationships throughout multiple businesses and functions to foster a consistent and collaborative approach to proactive compliance.

  • Demonstrate excellent ability to identify issues, engage appropriate stakeholders, complete root cause analysis, and assess effectiveness of solution within area of responsibility.

  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the organization and its operations; uses knowledge of business and compliance metrics to inform the strategy and goals.

  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset and proposes enhancements to the program informed by industry trends and best practices.

  • Requires a developing understanding of and leadership interactions with key functions (Indirect Channel Management, Internal Audit, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, R&D, Sales and Marketing.)

  • Demonstrates professional demeanor and is perceived as competent with developing conflict management skills

  • Demonstrates effective communication and presentation skills, including formal and technical writing skills

  • Seeks to consistently meet internal customer needs without compromising Stryker Corporate Policies, procedures, industry guidance and country, state/provincial or local laws

Education and Special Trainings:

  • Undergraduate degree required

  • Graduate degree or professional accreditation preferred (e.g., CPA, MBA, JD, CFE)

  • Experience in complex accounting and financial investigations, including those involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), improper payments, and related key compliance risks

  • Public accounting or audit experience in a professional services firm preferred.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of work experience required (minimum 6 years demonstration of requisite functional and interpersonal skills)

  • Demonstrates knowledge and clear understanding of the required elements of effective Medtech compliance programs and experience with AdvaMed code and other relevant standards.

  • Possesses excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.

  • Demonstrates high level of professionalism, business acumen, and judgment.

  • Demonstrates ability to drive complex work of significant impact to the organization.

  • Well-developed understanding of business financials, reporting and ability to effectively allocate resources for maximum impact.

  • Demonstrate an ability to execute tasks and projects without direct oversight and a significant ability to operate independently.

  • Oversees complex work of significant impact to the organization.

  • Demonstrates excellent ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

  • Possesses excellent understanding of the budgeting process, expense and headcount management, business financials, and ability to allocate resources for maximum impact.

Compensation

  • $ 145,700 - $ 321,000 salary plus bonus eligible + generally eligible for short-term and long-term financial incentives + benefits.  Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location.  Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
