What it's like to be a Scaffold Builder at RQ?

As a new Scaffold Builder at RQ Construction, LLC, you will construct and dismantle scaffolding structures following safety guidelines. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve assisting with material handling, tools organization, and site cleanup. You will work closely with experienced team members to gain hands-on experience in scaffold assembly techniques and best practices. Your ability to follow instructions and attention to detail will be essential as you contribute to the overall success of our projects.

What you need to be successful

To excel as a Scaffold Builder at RQ Construction, LLC, you must possess a strong foundation in construction practices and safety protocols. Proficiency in tasks such as building and breaking down scaffolding, reading blueprints and drawings, measuring and cutting materials accurately, and operating power tools is essential. Attention to detail and the ability to follow safety regulations diligently are key attributes for success in this role.

As a physically demanding position, being able to perform tasks that involve manual labor is crucial. By demonstrating these skills and a willingness to learn, you will contribute to the efficient and precise completion of construction projects at our Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base site.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • A high school diploma or GED is the preferred minimum formal education for this position.

  • One or more years of experience with scaffolding.

  • Two or more years (or equivalent) field or trade work experience in commercial construction required; government, military, or large commercial construction experience preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred; Specific training or certificates in the following preferred:

  • Forklift/Manlift training and certificate

  • Fall protection training

  • Scissor lift/boom lift certificate

  • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour

  • Trenching & Shoring training

  • Confined Space Training

  • Lockout/Tagout training

  • Manufacturer Certifications for each type of Scaffold used on project(s)

  • Per contract stipulations, access to SUBASE Kings Bay is limited to United States citizens only. Other work statuses cannot be considered for employment at this specific location.
