JOB SUMMARY

The Cabin Electronics division of Astronics AES is looking for an experienced Technical Services Engineer who will be a technical interface for our global customer base. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with global airline customers through design of new cabin power installations, delivery and installation support, and fleet service through the life of our products. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys getting their hands onto technical problems and solving them, and getting to interact directly with customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform technical tasks requiring product knowledge at both unit component and aircraft installed system level. The technical services engineer possesses a working knowledge of equipment operation, troubleshooting and maintenance procedures and is able to apply them in a suitable and accurate manner. Provide customer interface for technical inquiries, problem solving and training regarding product performance and maintenance issues. Prepare and maintain service documentation per industry requirements. Support marketing activities e.g. installation engineering estimates, proposal preparation and customer site visits. Perform airframe manufacturer liaison activities. Ability to travel domestically and internationally on average 25-50% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform airframe manufacture liaison activities to assist installation engineering and new product design. Assist customer in understanding and interpreting Astronics technical documentation.

  • Develop reports on field data/information of product performance.

  • Provide technical customer support for "installed equipment base" via telecommunications and/or on-site visits.

  • Plan, prepare and perform both shop level and line maintenance training.

  • Prepare support documentation, e.g., service letters, service bulletins, CMM (Component Maintenance Manual) revisions and training manual revisions per Air Transport Association Specification for incorporation by technical publication group.

  • Support marketing proposal activities to include but not limited to the preparation of installation non-recurring engineering, recurring and equipment requirements.

  • Collect, analyze and record equipment trend failures from both customer reports and customer repair station data.

Education/Experience:

  • Requires 2-year degree in an EE/systems/software field OR A&P Category A Mechanic, and five years related experience

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing software.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee will travel on average 25% per month domestically and internationally.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing pre-employment background check and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis.

Base salary range for this position is $79,293.00 - $118,940 annually.
