Management Solutions Data Analyst in Knoxville, Tennessee

Who we need…

Management Solutions is seeking a Data Analyst. You will work closely with the business to deliver data-driven analytical insights and business intelligence solutions that will help support and drive the decisions of the business. You will use your advanced data and SQL knowledge to become a subject matter expert (SME) of our internal data systems and our clients, understand what data is available to the business, and help design / structure systems that make use of this data.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire, prepare, and clean data to ensure usability for reporting and analytics.

  • Analyze data using statistical techniques to extract useful information and draw conclusions.

  • Develop statistical models to support analysis.

  • Understand and identify the appropriate technical requirements / specifications for designing a system to house and use data.

  • Partner with the business units, to gather technical requirements and implement BI solutions.

  • Develop reports, dashboards, scorecards, and other data visualizations in SSRS, Power BI, ZAP BI, Excel, and other BI platforms.

  • Unify business logic and KPI definitions across all BI solutions.

  • Maintain metadata and custom mappings used in reporting and analysis.

  • Coordinate with the Data Ops team to develop and document data warehouse collections and datasets needed for BI reporting and platforms.

  • Analyze and understand source system data for validity and completeness, troubleshooting basic data integrity issues, and document findings.

  • Maintain detailed data dictionaries, documentation, and source control for all BI processes and solutions.

  • Provide end user training and support for BI platforms.

  • Remain current in profession and industry trends, learning new platforms as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another analytically challenging field.

  • Five (5) years of professional experience with data analytics, SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI, and/or Tabular data modeling required.

  • Adept at writing complex and optimized T-SQL queries (complex joins, CTEs, analytical functions, parameterization, etc.) against very large datasets, with the ability to combine data between multiple SQL sources via linked servers.Exceptional understanding of dimensional data modeling (star schema).

  • Extensive experience building dataflows, datasets, dashboards, and other visuals in Power BI, including extensive use of DAX to create complex KPIs.

  • Ability to develop an understanding of table relationships in a RDBMS by reverse engineering views and stored procedures.

  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes, Kimball methodologies of data warehousing concepts and design, and DDL & DML operations.

  • Proficiency with Excel in a reporting and dashboarding capacity (Power Query, cube functions, array functions, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of Python.

  • Working knowledge of Power Automate and Power Apps.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.

  • Desire to learn and support new technologies and systems.

  • Experience working in the energy industry is preferred.

  • Experience working with energy agencies (federal and/or state) is a plus.

  • Experience working with renewable energy certificates / credits is a plus.

  • Experience working with SCADA systems is a plus.

  • Location preference is Knoxville, TN; remote candidates will be considered.

  • Working hours - Eastern time zone.

  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
