Actalent CAD Drafter in La Grange, Illinois

Job Title: CAD Drafter (Entry Level)

Job Description

As a CAD Drafter, you will be responsible for generating layout drawings from customer-supplied CAD files, plans, and sketches. Your role includes creating accurate bills of material and detailed production and part drawings. You will design both standard products and customer-specific applications. This position is highly customer-facing, requiring regular interaction with customers and internal sales teams, often involving phone calls to clarify requirements. You will also be responsible for managing drawing workload and providing engineering and technical support to sales, production personnel, and customers. The role primarily involves drafting in CAD, generating quotes, and performing administrative tasks such as updating the ERP system, communicating shipping times, and providing general customer support. The focus is on speed, managing 5-10 drawings daily depending on scale, with drawings primarily involving intermediate-level CAD work for assembling fencing and similar structures.

Hard Skills

  • Associates, Bachelors Degree in CAD or CAD Certificate OR equivalent experience

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Experience with SolidWorks

Soft Skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams

  • Capability to manage workload efficiently

  • Strong communication skills

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position

Work Environment

This individual will report directly to the Inside Sales/CAD Manager and will be part of a team of 4-6 other Drafters.
