Job Description Summary
The Site Environmental Health and Safety Leader reports to the GE Lafayette Plant Leader and works in a self-directed teaming structure. This person will work closely with the EHS Specialist and EHS Council to create a site EHS strategy and execute on a variety of strategic and tactical EHS priorities.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop overall EHS strategy including employee engagement, education, ergonomics, and risk reduction
Leadership of and participation in Gemba walks, audits, and contractor auditing
Support safety concern and event investigations with EHS council representatives and ensure effective countermeasures are implemented
Lead site wide SFMEA events and ensure key risk areas are addressed
Support Safety Risk Assessments - annual reviews, workstation heat maps, and strength of defenses
Ensure first responders are adequately trained and oversee overall program effectiveness
Own EHS training curriculum, lead training, and manage completion
Oversee contractor management system (Comply Works)
Participate in and improve Management of Change process
Facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual rhythms for Safety Framework scoring and auditing
Lead review and maintenance of written programs and policies
Manage and complete required annual environmental permitting and update as needed (written permit and reg auditor review)
Oversee waste management system and contractor support
oComplete weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections
oRCRA & DOT Management
oCreate waste profiles, track waste generator status, schedule and assist with waste shipments
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college + Minimum of 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety.
