Position:Airport Vegetation Control Supervisor

Salary:$20.11/Hr
Under general supervision and instruction this position is responsible for ensuring vegetation is maintained within the LaGrange - Callaway Airport property boundaries to include the right of way along Airport and Aerotron Parkways.
Qualifications/Knowledge:
- High school diploma or GED, possession of or the ability to readily obtain a current valid commercial driver's license
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field
- Knowledge of the techniques, equipment, and supplies used in vehicle and power equipment maintenance
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FFA) Regulations, county and departmental safety policies and procedures
- Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles, trucks, vegetation control equipment as well as aviation-related support devices
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Skill in customer service
- Skill in oral and written communication
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates equipment in the maintenance of Airport vegetation to include tree limbs and shrubbery that would otherwise encroach upon Airport boundary fencing and facilities as well as Airport and Aerotron Parkways
- Supervises all mowing operations in support of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations; may be required to work weekends, holidays and after-hours to support Airport operations
- Establishes schedules to ensure timely and appropriate equipment preventative maintenance, tree limb trimming and shrubbery pruning
- Assists in general maintenance, cleaning and organization of supplies to maintain Airport facilities and parking areas
- Provides oversight to contractors and other Airport or county employees as needed to ensure mowing and vegetation control is adequately achieved
- Operates a variety of mowers, chainsaws and power tools to meet vegetation control and mowing requirements
- Assists in Fixed Base Operations (FBO) such as aircraft marshalling, towing, fueling, ground power unit support, freight loading/unloading operations and other aviation-related support
- Performs pre-operation and post-operation vehicle and equipment inspections to include daily fuel truck and fuel tank inspection checklists
- Performs preventative maintenance and limited repair on vehicles and equipment
- Performs aviation, vegetation and facilities related support duties as assigned
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
