The salary range listed represents a broad salary range for this position. It is anticipated that this position will begin at $3,484.00 per month, depending upon internal equity, experience, education, and training.

Note: Work schedule for this position varies between 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday through Fridays. Position may be required to work occasional weekend hours to accommodate departmental needs. This position is subject to video surveillance via camera at all times when within the Cashier's Office or immediate vicinity. Applicant selected for hire will be required to acquire working knowledge of and the ability to utilize Banner, via training provided subsequent to hire.

Description of Job

This full time position is located in the Cashier's Office at the Lakewood Campus. Position will utilize excellent customer service skills on a daily basis while interacting with students and departments in accepting payments and deposits at the Cashier window. Primary duties and responsibilities include: act as custodian of a daily cash drawer with full compliance with all Cashiering procedures. This position will c omplete an accurate opening and closing cash counts with supervisory staff. verify and record payments received at the window, via mail, phone, or electronic bank transfers (EBT’s) made by students or third-party payors, process non-student payments for other departments such as payments for library fines, parking tickets, assessment tests, transcripts, etc. Position may count, reconcile and post daily deposits made by the cafeteria, maintain drawer balance within established cash limits, provide change to requesting departments, etc. Position will disburse items prepared by Business Services’ staff through the Cashier’s Office window as required, review and verify identification of recipient and ensure all appropriate documentation required (including signatures) is received prior to disbursement. Position will assist in review and verification of other cashier’s closing documents as needed, preparing closing documents, cash and or check deposits. Position must maintain strict confidentiality regarding student personal identification data, bank and credit card account numbers and information.

This position will perform general office duties and clerical support. The work includes, but is not limited to: audit payments, answer, general Cashier emails, organize, file or distribute incoming mail, assist in training the office student workers, process the application of payments report. Position may also be required to attending department, division, and College meetings, participate in College committees and complete or attend trainings as applicable and assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years of technical accounting experience or bookkeeping performed as the primary function of the job.Do not use "SEE RESUME" statements on the application; your application must be completed in detail documenting your experience. Daily interaction with students, faculty and staff requires that this position have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Candidate must have experience providing customer service and interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within an organization and community. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary for success in this position. Successful candidate must have the ability to remain calm under stressful situations. Part time experience will be prorated.

Substitutions: Two years (60 semester hours) of college, university or non-correspondence business school from an accredited institution in Accounting or Finance may substitute for the technical accounting experience as listed above. You must submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts with your application by the closing date in order to be considered. Redact your personal identifying information on your transcript.

Highly Desirable: Associate's degree or higher in Accounting. Experience working with Banner or similar system, especially in the Student and/or Accounts Receivable modules. Recent experience utilizing computer spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel. Relevant State Service listed and considered. Understand and determine appropriate rules and regulations from various sources. Attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Proficiency utilizing a keyboard and 10-key adding machine with speed and accuracy.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Successful candidate must be willing to work before or after normal business hours if requested and overtime as needed. Surveillance cameras are used in the Cashier's Office.
