A Brief Overview

The Public Relations Specialist will play an instrumental role in helping to elevate FirstBank's mission of "banking for good" among stakeholders. This role will be responsible for helping to champion internal initiatives, developing quality content, and assisting with enterprise-wide campaigns, events and sponsorships. The Specialist develops quality internal and external content and communications.

What you will do

  • Collaborates with FirstBank's communications committee, business units and markets to identify communications and engagement opportunities, and evaluate their efficacy.

  • Helps develop and manage the execution of an internal communications strategy to foster employee engagement.

  • Effectively drives awareness of companywide news, events and other key initiatives among the organizations' 3,000-plus employees.

  • Prepares quality written materials and creative content to favorably shape the company's image within and outside of FirstBank, including: employee newsletters, companywide announcements, intranet postings, social media content, blog posts, news releases and more.

  • Coordinates the production of content and other assets for various channels (email, company intranet, video, etc.) in a digestible and engaging manner.

  • Participates in the ideation, planning and implementation of various PR, marketing and communication campaigns and projects.

  • Helps identify and socialize compelling customer and employee stories that align with our mission of "banking for good."

  • Assists in developing results reports that summarize key successes and learnings from PR/Marketing campaigns.

  • Supports general Marketing functions and other FirstBank PR, event, internal communications and social media initiatives, as needed.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Understands and complies with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years related experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Business Management/Administration or a related field

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Previous editorial, Public Relations, Communications or Marketing experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Well organized, detail-oriented and able to respond to shifting priorities

  • Knowledge of the Adobe Suite programs (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Final CutPro)

  • Basic understanding of social media and email marketing platforms for marketing and communication purposes

  • Ability to work as a collaborative team player and execute communication/PR strategies to meet company objectives

  • Understanding of how to create and package content for both internal and external stakeholders

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms

  • Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights

  • Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files

  • Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information

  • FirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law. The actual number of in-office days that may be required will vary by business unit, role, and business need.

Salary Range

$23.70 Per Hour to $31.03 Per Hour
