Direct Wire & Cable Inc. Upcast Operator in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Job description

Direct Wire & Cable is seeking an *Upcast operator *to join our team! This role will be collaborating closely with the production team, troubleshooting any issues that arise during casting, and proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement at Direct Wire.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute machine changeovers and setups.

  • Operate machines and handle copper ingots.

  • Monitor materials, connect ladle services, and update information in tracking systems.

  • Measure temperature and take material samples.

  • Prepare and assemble tundish components during machine and emergency tests.

  • Assist with secondary cooling system repairs.

  • Ensure steel cleanness during punctures and conduct ladle opening using oxygen.

  • Maintain product quality by meeting defined standards and promptly reporting deviations.

  • Efficiently perform duties to meet productivity and cost-effectiveness targets.

  • Follow applicable procedures and maintain accurate records.

  • Properly utilize company assets and promptly report any malfunctions.

  • Participate in training activities to enhance company knowledge and proactively suggest improvements.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace, adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Assist with machine lockouts, tag outs, and perform operative maintenance.

  • Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • A Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • At least six months of experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Proven knowledge of casting and downstream processing preferred, but not required.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook
  • Basic math skills, including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, are expected.
  • Ability to represent the company professionally both within and outside of the organization.
