The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for a Maintenance Supervisor, Water Production in Lansing, MI.

Position Summary:

 

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $89,500. - $109,200.

 

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing the maintenance activities for two drinking water plants, 125 drinking water wells and five booster stations. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising 12 maintenance mechanics, including three maintenance leaders.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Directs Maintenance Mechanics Leaders, Maintenance Mechanics, and other assigned employees in the repair of existing equipment and installation of new equipment in Water Production plants, booster stations, wholesale interconnects, and well field.
  • Ensures proper supply of materials and resources be available for safe, efficient completion of tasks.
  • Assists in maintaining adequate parts and materials inventory.
  • Utilizes maintenance employees efficiently.
  • Monitors job performance of assigned personnel.
  • Organizes work assignments regarding repair priorities and safe, efficient use of resources.
  • Communicates with multiple departments, external agencies.
  • Works with Operations Supervisor and Operations Shift Supervisor to plan and complete tasks effectively.
  • Maintains records in a clear, legible, and timely manner.
  • Assists in the development of reports and price quotes.
  • Supervises the safe use of explosives and chemicals used in well refurbishment.
  • Must possess an excellent safety record and be familiar with all MIOSHA and BWL safety rules and enforce such rules.
  • Enforces departmental rules and BWL policies pertaining to work procedures, safety standards and practices, personnel policies, and Union contractual matters in a uniform and consistent manner.
  • Promotes and demonstrates safe work practices.
  • Maintains and develops standard operating procedures associated with maintenance functions and tasks.
  • Trains Water Production employees as required.
  • Attends required training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by Manager, BWL or governmental agency.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with Maintenance Planner to coordinate and plan work.
  • Substantial walking on uneven and slippery surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday standby.
