Position: Full-Time (40 hrs/week: M-Th 7a to 6p)

In this pivotal role, reporting directly to the Speech-Language Pathology Supervisor and guided by the Clinical Manager (CM), the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for developing and implementing SLP services for pediatric and adult clients based on assessments and physician prescriptions. The focus is on delivering high-quality rehabilitation care services to clients. Effective, timely, and inclusive communication with relevant stakeholders is essential, reflecting Origami’s mission, vision, and core values.

    Responsibilities

  • Model appropriate behavior conducive to a positive working and therapeutic environment.

  • Observe all rules of confidentiality as they pertain to program participants internally, and in working with outside individuals and/or agencies.

  • Proactively initiate and follow-through with tasks utilizing appropriate problem- solving techniques to facilitate communication flow and prompt resolutions.

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by the American Speech and Hearing Association and practice in accordance with the State of Michigan regulations.

  • Attend clinical reviews and family conferences as appropriate.

  • Evaluate, document, and implement treatment plans for clients referred by physicians.

  • Record evaluations, daily progress notes, discharge reports, and service billings in a timely manner and in accordance with procedure to provide complete documentation for client charts.

  • Educate staff, clients and external stakeholders on swallowing precautions and other modalities as appropriate.

  • Assume responsibility for the design and effective implementation for SLP related group therapy activities.

  • Accurately schedule client visits in accordance with procedure.

  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of effective and timely systems of documentation, including the collection and analysis of outcome data.

  • Maintain professional excellence through attending networking opportunities, establishing collegial relationships, sharing resources and skills, and seeking out opportunities to speak, publish, and contribute to research.

  • Provide interns, volunteers, and job shadows meaningful educational experiences.

  • Maintain caseload levels at a level deemed reasonable by the SLPS.

    Requirements

  • Speech-Language Pathology licensure in the State of Michigan

  • 1+ year of pediatric experience

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology

  • Experience with neurological dysfunction

  • Experience with dysphagia

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and sit (use hands to palpate, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel or crawl, and taste or smell). Accommodated alternatives are acceptable if they accomplish the necessary essential tasks. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
