Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc Maintenance Assistant in Leesburg, Ohio

Job Title: Maintenance Assistance Reports To: Maintenance Coordinator  Objective: Ensures that district facilities are kept clean, safe, properly maintained, and operating efficiently. 

*Minimum [Qualifications:]{.underline} *

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically powered cleaning equipment and machines to include snow shovels.
  • Employees in this job classification (job title) are designated as essential employees and must report to work as scheduled when District offices are closed due to severe weather.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to pass full background check.

*Duties and Responsibilities: *

  • Assist custodial staff with cleaning, training, and job assignments
  • Inspect buildings monthly and schedule maintenance accordingly
  • Ensure all HVAC systems are operating properly
  • Repair or replace electrical service such as fixtures, receptacles, etc. as needed
  • Ensure proper operation of all plumbing
  • Repair broken windows, doors, and furniture, if possible
  • Ensure all sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas are cleared of ice and snow
  • Ensure proper maintenance of grounds, including mowing of grass and trimming of shrubs and trees
  • Ensure all parking areas are properly maintained
  • Perform carpentry work when needed for minor repairs/improvements
  • Repair and/or add sidewalks
  • Repair and/or maintain roofs as needed
  • Display a spirit of cooperation with the school staff, pupils, and the general public
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the local superintendent or his/her designee

Additional Work Conditions: 

  • On call daily and overnight for mechanical and weather related issues
  • Frequent evening and weekend work
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
  • Occasional travel
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items such as boxes, supplies, parts, and equipment
  • Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop
