Location/Division Specific Information

This position will be site based in Lenexa, Kansas and will support our Microbiology Division (MBD Operations) business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Discover Impactful Work:

The Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering will lead and coordinate all maintenance reliability activities, including planning, scheduling, and emergent work. Manage and develop all maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Collaborate with diverse teams for project development and execution.

A Day in the Life:

  • Collaborate with diverse teams for project development and execution.

  • Provide technical assistance and resolve issues on the production floor.

  • Champion continued efficiency and equipment improvements using metrics and root cause analysis.

  • Oversee the implementation of engineering and mechanical maintenance projects.

  • Assume daily duties and lead all aspects of the Maintenance/Engineering Department in the absence of senior management.

  • Participate in auditing training protocols to ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, EPA, and company policies and laws.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical, mechanical, or industrial is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful track record in a manufacturing environment with degree, preferably in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device industry.

  • 5-6 years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing environment without degree.

  • Minimum of 2 years people leadership experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing mechanical processes/equipment and advanced technical skills.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems and automation.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand and work at a desk for extended periods.

  • Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma theory and practices.
