Catholic Health Initiatives Medical Physicist in Lexington, Kentucky

Saint Joseph Hospital is a 433-bed facility located in Lexington Kentucky. Founded in 1877 a small group of Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Kentucky led by Sister Euphrasia Stafford began their health ministry. Responsibilities

*Sign On Bonus up to $25,000 and Student Loan Payback up to $24,000 for eligible hires*

Saint Joseph is currently treating using a Varian 23iX linac with 120 MLC and

CBCT image, MOSAIQ record and verify, Pinnacle 18-HSOP TPS, and GE Lightspeed

CT simulator. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to also work with our

Elekta VersaHD linacs at our Lexington and Bardstown locations, as well as our Philips

Brilliance Big Bore, 4D CT simulator. We primarily use SNC QA equipment, and

currently have SNC Daily QA, ArcCheck, MapCheck2, Round Phantom, and Profiler in

use.

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

The Medical Physicist works with the Radiation Oncologist, Dosimetrist, Radio Therapist and others to assure the accurate delivery of all aspects of therapeutic radiation. They are directly involved in patient care whereby their decisions contribute to the optimal safe and effective delivery of ionizing radiation per the Oncologist’s

prescribed treatment. They are responsible for calibration of machines, office radiation safety training, quality assurance of diagnostic and therapy equipment and accessories.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performance specification, acceptance testing, and commissioning of new equipment.

  2. Development and maintenance of quality assurance programs for all treatment modalities, localization procedures, and computational equipment to assure that patients receive prescribed doses within acceptable degrees of accuracy.

  3. Maintenance of all instrumentation required for calibration of sources, measurement of radiation and calibration of doses.

  4. Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education: The clinical medical physicist must have an M.S. or PhD in medical physics and be ABR Board Certified or Board Eligible.

Required Licensure and Certifications: BLS

Pay Range

$73.08 - $116.92 /hour
