Position Summary

Reports Directly to the Clinical Director of Mental Health. Responsible for working directly with the clients to assess the client incorporation of treatment concepts is being met and providing psychoeducational instruction to clients in accordance with approved curricula. The Case Manager/Instructor works in conjunction with other mental health employees in compliance with Texas Health and Human Services. (HHSC), MTC Medical and the Texas Civil Commitment office. (TCCO)

Essential Functions:

  1. Establish and maintain professional boundaries, included limited sharing of personal information to the clients.

  2. Promote the cultivation of prosocial skills by modeling appropriate interpersonal interactions and behaviors.

  3. Demonstrate the ability and willingness to intervene when inappropriate behaviors are observed.

  4. Perform daily rounds through the units. Assist with care coordination and making referrals to the Mental Health counselors as needed.

  5. Check the Mental Health services mailbox daily and triage client's communication forms to the appropriate personal.

  6. Adhere to client confidentiality standards while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team.

  7. Assist with the monitoring and support of residents to determine client incorporation of treatment concepts.

  8. Source out any requisite instructional materials to be acquired by TCCC to assist with the facilitation of psychoeducational group sessions.

  9. Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to facility safety practices.

  10. Track referrals to specific psychoeducational groups to address targeted treatment objectives to ensure clients are offered the opportunity to meet said objectives.

  11. Schedule psychoeducational groups in accordance with HHSC contractual obligations surrounding specific content area including posting and collecting client rosters.

  12. Responsible for producing copies of treatment material to be distributed to clients prior to group session.

  13. Facilitate psychoeducational groups as scheduled.

  14. Present Psychoeducational materials in and understandable and relatable manner for individuals with various educational backgrounds.

  15. Assign homework tasks to be reviewed to make sure clients are understanding and incorporating therapeutic concepts.

  16. Maintain Client attendance and participation records to be entered into the Medical electronic records within a specific time frame.

  17. Must be able to manage clients with oppositional and manipulative tendencies during group processes.

  18. Track and relay individual client progress to appropriate multidisciplinary team members.

  19. Attend group facilitation or other required training as needed.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned with his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Must have a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice or related field from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the counsel for higher education (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education. (USDE) Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements. Must possess current CPR certification. Valid Driver's License in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Upon hire applicant must successfully complete required pre-service and annual training requirements. Must successfully pass an annual background check.
