The Advanced Purchasing Program Manager II (APPMII) will manage programs for the Purchasing department and lead a team of professionals in completing all material related aspects of new programs for an on time, on budget with zero product stop ship issues launch. The role is the sole representative for Purchasing and Supplier Quality (SQ) for multiple programs with complex, multi-level, high count part Bills of Material (BOM) at a single, business unit from business acquisition through start of production (SOP). The Advanced Purchasing Program Manager II will act as the conduit between our supply base, Purchasing and Supplier Quality, and the Program Team.
As an Advanced Purchasing Program Manager ll, you will:
Manage program for the entire BOM to ensure all parts are launched on time, on budget and with zero quality issues at SOP; Ensure BOM cost achievement by creating and managing actual costs to targets and budget for new program quotes to customers and launches; Submit Request for Quotes (RFQ's) and place purchase orders, as required
Coordinate, plan, and manage inputs and outputs to and from Purchasing and SQ, including inputs to and outputs from engineering, sales, program management and leadership
Create, update, and communicate critical program documentation including bill of material launch reports, open issues, quote repository, cost walks
Align and realign deliverables with program outcomes and adjust schedules, BOM targets and financials for all program changes
Communicate with executives and key stakeholders to keep the project aligned with their goals
Identify problems and risks and implement recovery plans through recurring reviews with program teams and executive teams, track progress and report issues and progress to the organization
Create short, mid, and long-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
Exercise negotiation skills and problem-solving techniques to create effective solutions to program challenges and obstacles
Assist new business acquisition through quote generation and advanced purchasing activities including leveraging of prototype purchases from production suppliers and ensuring RFQ's to suppliers are in accordance with the established commodity strategies and include customer requirements
Look across the enterprise for synergies and opportunity to leverage component sourcing for cost savings
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related
Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing or program management experience in the
automotive industry
U.S. Persons allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance
Proficient in engineering drawing interpretation and technically competent
Working knowledge of formal Quality Management Systems (i.e., ISO9001,TS16949, etc.) including Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Failure, Mode, and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint and extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently with a proactive, ownership mindset and influence others to deliver results and drive change throughout the organization
A successful candidate may also have:
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Experience with quality or manufacturing operations systems, cost modeling, and cross functional communication
Attention to detail; high comfort with analytics
High proficiency in leading effective source selections, understanding and analyzing cost breakdowns, negotiations
