Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer II will perform a broad range of customer projects with a variety of engineering programs. The role will work on projects for large and small customers with aggressive timelines. The mid-level role will also determine an understanding of the customer's unique component design, validation, and release needs. The Mechanical Engineer II will perform independent project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members. As Mechanical Engineer II, you will:Generation of 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for mechanical equipment. This may be a mix of directing design staff to generate models and drawings or the engineer having direct responsibility for generating this dataCalculate and analyze system and sub-system performance for decision making and program or design direction. This may include hand calculations, 1D calculators, use of dedicated simulation software, or coordinating with a CAE team to run simulationsRead, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentationGenerate and execute or oversee testing procedures on benchtop, in laboratory, in vehicle, in field, or onsite at a customer facilityBalance quality, cost, and timing of responsible systems and designs to fit the needs of projectsBe a representative of mechanical engineering expertise as part of a cross-functional team (CFT) with both Roush and external team membersMeet timelines and satisfy technical requirements including new and existing customer requirements in addition to applicable industry and government standardsCFTs are typically small teams that require interaction with customer management, other departments within Roush, customer or Roush fabrication shops, customer or Roush assembly teams, and outside vendors and suppliersMinimum qualifications to be considered:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentMinimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineeringKnowledge of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to one or more of the following fields: fluid power, motion control, thermal management, fluid dynamics, structural analysis, rigid body motion, vehicle steering/suspension, vehicle powertrain, vehicle structures, power transmission. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems for troubleshooting and problem-solvingThe ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective mannerFunctional proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, preferably SolidWorks or Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG)Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent verbal and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiencesAbility to work independently or in a team and handle several assignments simultaneouslyA successful candidate may also have:3 years of experience in Mechanical EngineeringKnowledge of DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode an
