Growth & Middle Market (G&MM) Technology Banking: New banking team based in UK to focus on public and venture capital/private equity-backed Tech companies with £40mm-2b in revenue.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Responsible for the implementing the credit risk management function for G&MM Tech and leading the team

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish a team to perform credit underwriting and portfolio management, using the US-based Credit Solutions team as a model.

  • Be actively engaged, outbound in market alongside RM leaders, cultivating referral sources and influencers, pitching clients, and driving new business.

  • Ideally have a skill set that includes sponsor / buyout lending, as well as cash flow negative and positive tech borrowers, especially VC-backed and public.

  • Be closely aligned with 2L partner, and assist in developing credit tools and policy.

  • Responsible for the implementation of the credit risk management function, providing recommendations to the firmwide Credit Committee.

  • Monitor and manage the credit exposure within portfolios and individual transactions

  • Continually review counterparty credit-worthiness and develop credit exposure methodologies in conjunction with risk analytic systems.

  • Evaluate individual credit applications and make recommendations to management.

  • Supervision, management, and development of staff.

  • Evaluate and monitor assigned industries.

  • Develop credit guidelines and policies.

  • Represent MD & Group Head in meetings and other duties as required.

  • Assist and/or perform applicable compliance related functions.

  • Guide and support business lines/products groups/examination function/legal function/risk management function on credit and risk related issues.

  • Role is balanced between day-to-day high level operational execution and development of the strategic direction of the relevant Infrastructure area.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • In-depth knowledge of all elements of credit and risk principles, product and management

  • Extensive product knowledge and expertise.

  • 15 or more years in credit and risk related function

  • Minimum of 5 years of management/supervisory experience of credit, risk or line group.

SKILLS

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential:

  • Solid credit and analytical background with related managerial experience

  • Similar credit related banking experience

  • Strong understanding of general credit and risk principles, mitigating factors, and banking policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated success of executing complex financial transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders and translate their needs into actionable initiatives

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in TMT industry and transactions, particularly in commercial lending, is highly desirable

  • Relevant credit and analytical background in non-investment grade lending is a must

Education / Qualifications:

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of related work experience, an MBA degree preferred.
