Purpose

Are you an experienced qualified Tax Manager and looking for an exciting new opportunity? As Tax Manager, you will contribute to Scotiabank’s already successful Tax Department in Europe, and will ensure specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.

In this small yet thriving team based in London, there will be a huge breadth to your role. You will have the opportunity to get involved in plenty of different areas, and due to some interesting projects taking place at the moment, it’s a really exciting time to join the bank.

Accountabilities

• Broad role dealing with compliance and advisory work for UK and Irish entities.

• In addition to corporate taxation, scope includes transfer pricing, operational taxes, new product approval and bank levy.

• Dealing with tax governance including Tax Risk Register and Risk Appetite.

• Ad hoc project work and business partnering to support business growth.

Experience/Education

This is a technical role involving considerable initiative. Although the incumbent will be supported by the European Head of Tax and the Senior Manager (Ireland), they will need to display considerable autonomy as an SME for taxation.

• A professional qualification and relevant tax experience required, ideally gained within banking or financial services.

• CTA an advantage.

• The ability to understand and digest complex legislation and technical information is essential.

• Familiarity with Alphatax software an advantage.

• The Tax Team play a vital role as business partners to the front office. It is essential that the incumbent is capable of managing conflicting deadlines and is able to provide a prompt service to the front office to ensure that business is allowed to continue smoothly.
