Overview
The basic objective of the position is to support, develop, and implement training programs to promote high standards for employee performance in terms of technical proficiency, the environment, safety, productivity, customer focus and ethical behavior. This position contributes to the success of the Company by providing a motivated, well-trained workforce to meet the needs of customers and various stakeholders. This role is for an Instructor includes supporting the development of training curriculum and aides, instructor guides, student guides, tests, training media, Digital Learning courses, etc. They will lead Digital Learning tool development and review. An Instructor is responsible for evaluating trainee performance when required for qualifications as well as training procedures and equipment relative to training and technology. They will be required to participate in TECs for assigned disciplines and be the connection to our business partners as a trusted advisor.Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities- Ensure that all assigned courses have current learning objectives, course outlines, instructor guides, student manuals, training aids, tests, media and centralized document control.
- Supervise and conduct training of employees, contractors, and customers in the skills required to perform their jobs.
- Coordinate with field personnel to ensure alignment of training with operations, including active participation in Training Effectiveness Committees (TECs) and field visits, including participation in special projects.
- Update and maintain eTrain and Learning Management System (LMS) records.
- Evaluate student performance of those being trained, or tested for a position, title change, or advancement in title.
- Maintain inventory of the materials required to conduct training.
- Participate in the development of Digital Learning Tools (for example eBook, eLearning, Micro Learning, videos, VR and AR).
- Stay informed of operating incidents and accidents, issues, procedures, lessons learned, etc. Communicate these to the training staff and students, where applicable.
- Maintain housekeeping responsibility for assigned rooms and areas and ensure compliance requirements are met, as assigned (e.g., fire extinguisher inspections, TLCs Hazardous Energy Control Procedure, etc.).
- Participate in cross-functional teams and industry groups to stay current on changes in training, technical discipline, regulatory requirements, etc.
- Act as a subject matter expert in the development and administering of testing when needed.
- Ensure that test results are fairly and accurately scored utilizing manual processes and following corporate procedures. Ensure confidentiality of test results and recommendations.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience- High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Work experience in Central Operations including Substation Ops, Steam Ops, Construction, and/or Engineering. or
- Associate's Degree with 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Work experience in Central Operations including Substation Ops, Steam Ops, Construction, and/or Engineering. or
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of relevant work experience. Work experience in Central Operations including Substation Ops, Steam Ops, Construction, and/or Engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills Required
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills. Required
- Demonstrate high energy level, flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments while working under tight deadlines. Required
- Strong organizational, administrative, decision making and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and a solid teamwork orientation. Required
- Maintain a professional demeanor and have the ability to deal with all levels of management, regulatory agencies, union personnel and customers. Required
- Hands-on experience with computer software programs, including Microsoft Office products Required
- Demonstrate ability to incorporate new and innovative technology to enhance processes. Required
- Strong project management skills. Required
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Substation Ops, Steam Ops, Construction, and/or Engineering. Required
- Familiar with curriculum development or instructional design. Preferred
- Experience with eTrain and TLC Portal. Preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
- Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills
- Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
- Driver's License Required
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be willing to travel within the Con Ed and/or O&R service territory, as needed.
- Must be able to participate in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
