UCLA Health Controller, Medicare Advantage in Los Angeles, California
Description
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer of Faculty
Practice Group, the Controller will lead the operations of the General
Accounting department for New Century Health Plan (NCHP). This role includes
oversight of revenue, accounts payable, cash, and financial reporting and
budgeting. The Controller will lead a team and will be responsible for
developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting and finance functions for the newly
formed Medicare Advantage health plan.
Key Responsibilities include:
Leading, developing, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards including accounting practices, policies, and procedures
Planning, coordinating, and preparing for year-end external audit by Public Accounting Firms
Develop and submit reporting based on regulatory requirements for but not limited to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department of Managed Health Care, Internal Revenue Service and Franchise Tax Board
Leading the monthly closing process and preparation of monthly financial statements.
Act as a liaison with the Lead Actuary, Director of Compliance, Director of Managed Care and Director of Medicare Advantage Operations regarding accounting for risk contracts. Provide advice on planning, coordinating, monitoring, and recommending process improvements as needed.
Developing staff members to their professional potential and foster teamwork among accounting and finance staff and their customers.
Delegating responsibility appropriately and foster a performance-based culture with a focus on internal controls, customer service, and process improvement.
Salary Range: $105,200 - $250,600/annually
This is a two year contract position. Contract roles may convert to career. Qualifications
We are seeking a dynamic leader with:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, required
A Master's/Advanced degree in Finance or Accounting, highly desired
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), highly desired
Ten or more years of experience in accounting, preferably in a Health Plan, large physician group, Academic Medical Center, Hospital System, or consulting/accounting firm, required
Five or more years of direct management experience, required
Experience with oversight for large-scale integrated accounting, reporting, and financial systems.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyze data using defined processes and develop advanced data queries using financial systems and reporting software
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms with a wide diversity of individuals, including physicians, senior management, managers, and technical staff
