UCLA Health Laboratory Assistant II in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is seeking a Lab Assistant II to support study leads in conducting animal experiments for drug development projects and perform basic laboratory maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with animal studies, specifically xenograft tail vein blood sample collection, data measurement, organization, and reporting of results. Additionally, the role involves supporting mouse procedures such as tumor implantations and drug administration. The candidate will prepare buffers, chemical agents, and other solutions according to research protocols. Maintaining a clean and organized lab, ordering materials, storing them appropriately, and adhering to all safety and procedural regulations are also key duties.

Hourly range: $21.38-$25.15

Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic understanding of biology.

  • Organized and detail-oriented; maintains up-to-date, accurate and organized schedules and records on a timely basis;

  • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines; Ability to work independently and troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, etc;

  • Skilled at working with spreadsheets, databases, and email;

  • Ability to follow directions and to both work independently and to work well with a team when needed;

  • Ability to keep laboratory space clean, safe and organized.
