UCLA Health Staff Research Associate II - Translational Oncology Research in Los Angeles, California
Description
The lab of Sanaz Memarzadeh, MD, PhD, focuses on understanding the
molecular basis of the formation, progression and treatment of gynecologic
epithelial cancers. The Gynecologic
Oncology (GO) Discovery lab investigates the molecular pathways in chemotherapy-resistant
ovarian and aggressive endometrial tumor cells that are candidates for
therapeutic intervention via small molecule inhibitors and/or
immunotherapy. Knowledge gained from
this translational research will then be used to design and test strategies for
cancer therapeutics that will move onto clinical trials.
Dr. Memarzadeh and the GO Discovery Lab (godiscoverylab.com) are
seeking a full-time Staff Research Associate II to join their team. The candidate for this position will be
expected to perform a variety of molecular, cellular and genomic research
techniques while working on projects related to understanding the immunologic
and genetic events involved in the formation and progression of gynecologic
disease. Other responsibilities include
laboratory support duties and preparation of data and technical writing for
manuscripts, presentations, funding applications and progress reports.

Salary range: $28.04 -
$45.11 Hourly
Qualifications
Candidates with B.S./M.S. degree strongly preferred
2 or more years of post-graduate wet lab research experience required, strongly preferred to be in Cancer or related field
Demonstrated experience in common molecular, biochemical and cellular biology techniques in laboratory environment required (including tissue culture, in vivo experiments)
Ability to seek out and read scientific literature pertaining to prosecution of broadresearch problems is required
Ability to analyze research findings and prepare clear, concise and accuratetechnical/statistical reports is required
Experience preparing data and scientific writing for manuscript publication and grant applications is required
Prior experience with laboratory management and protocol management (eg IRB) is preferred
Experience and knowledge in immunology is preferred.
