Overview

The Associate Vice President Business Development, Health Plan is responsible for owning the strategy, execution, and leadership of the Health Plan sales and business development function including achieving sales targets, driving penetration and density, and representing Signature Advantage across the industry.

The Associate Vice President Business Development is expected to take a hands-on approach to bringing new strategic value to the business. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative and experienced health plan sales executive responsible for initiating and closing partner opportunities with skilled nursing facilities, senior living communities, IDD providers and health systems.. The Associate Vice President Business Development will be responsible for building strategic partnerships with value-based care organizations that support their cost and quality goals, while also accelerating Signature Advantage’s growth and profitability. Additionally, the Associate Vice President Business Development will collaborate closely with BrightSpring’s executive leadership team and related sales functions, offering valuable market feedback and insights to support marketing, product development, and services initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with operations, finance, contracting, and recruiting to produce an integrated, aligned, and well-resourced growth plan

  • Develop and executes national sales strategy

  • Partner with marketing leadership to establish and uphold best practices, introduce, and manage account facing partnerships

  • Own the effectiveness and performance of the sales team, including hiring, performance management, organizational design, and process improvement

  • Manage online presence and develop new referral sources

  • Manage targeting and impact analytics to support sales strategy including external data sets, CRM technology, and other analytical tools

  • Proactively market to prospective clients to generate new business

  • Responsible for developing, identifying, qualifying, and closing new business.

  • Create a culture of accountability and strong communication among the sales function

  • Conduct market and field focus calls to ensure a goal directed plan is in place and executed

  • Drive identified sales strategies across the organization to further support growth goals

  • Manage and understand metrics daily, understanding where adjustments need to be made to accomplish goals

  • Communicate and motivate teams to drive success

  • Maintain current data on market area, competitors, and marketing strategies

  • Participate in community and organizational programs to promote professional growth and understanding of operations

  • Professionally represent the company as a brand ambassador in the industry at large, including but not limited to workgroups and trade shows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university

  • No less than five (5) years Medicare Advantage Health Plan sales; Special Needs Plan experience preferred

  • A deep and broad professional network that aligns to our target client base preferred (SNFs and Community Living)

  • Deep experience creating and executing effect sales and business development strategies for health plan growth

  • Proven sales performance with a record of achievement and exceeding growth expectations preferred

  • Track record of strong direct management including high retention, effective recruitment, and ability to train and mentor staff

  • Experience in building new and existing business using consultative skills and value proposition methodology

  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively with management and staff at all levels both internally and externally

  • Strong industry knowledge and ability to building/maintain relationships

  • Well organized, resourceful; effective and efficient at marshaling multiple resources to get things done; lays out tasks in sufficient detail to mark the trail; can work on multiple tasks at once without losing track; foresees and plans around obstacles

  • Demonstrates ability to articulately communicate ideas and data both orally, in writing, and through formal presentations

  • Strong ability to successfully ‘sell’ ideas and strategies to key decision makers

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and strong financial acumen highly recommended

  • Travel up to 25-75%
