Job Purpose/ Overview

This position will manage and coordinate the work of employees who process orders, transport materials, supplies, and finished products. In addition, this role plans, organizes and monitors the receiving, storage and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production areas, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so product and supplies are located and distributed to proper departments in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages staff to plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation, and order processing to meet performance measurements

  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors, and evaluates performance of personnel; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records and disciplines as necessary.

  • Reviews shipping/component warehouse operations daily to ensure the facility is neat secure and well organized; and that damage to product, equipment, environment, and the facility is prevented.

  • Oversees the supply and staging of materials to manufacturing for production. Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with product specifications, Safety and GMP procedures. Oversees the rotation of inventories within the warehouse.

  • Responsible for putting safety first and holding employees accountable for working safely. Ensure that all safety rules, procedures, and policies are followed.

  • Evaluates housekeeping, environmental, security and sanitation levels daily.

  • Oversee cycle and physical counts and reconciliation of all inventories. Manage off-site warehousing.

  • Manages customer service staff to plan and manage logistics, and order processing to meet performance measurements

  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of personnel, counsels, records and disciplines as necessary

  • Manage order processing and pick-pack ship functions.

  • Ensures comprehensive communication with all levels within the organization.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management preferred

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience

Knowlege Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability as a logistic manager.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.

  • Ability to lead and manage staff.

  • Proficient in standard logistic software.

  • Strong decision making/problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse key performance indicators.

  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience/knowledge of FedEx, UPS, and mailing processes.

  • Knowledge and experience with 4th Shift and Great Plains preferred.

  • Advanced ability with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Software and E-mail

INTELLECTUAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to interpret, develop, write and revise departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.

  • Walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.

  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required including but not limited to hair, eye, face and foot protection.

  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and dexterity; ability to use hands to grasp or do fine manipulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Typical warehouse environment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Regular and predictable attendance at the designated work site is required.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $82,000 - $96,000 annually. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
