Robert Half Staff Accountant in Lowell, Massachusetts

Description Robert Half currently has a long-term contract / temporary position open for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a dynamic, growing organization. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will promote the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will play an active role in compliance, collaborate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Lowell, Massachusetts region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain monthly payment schedules

  • Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

  • Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

  • Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives

  • Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll Requirements - Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Journal entries experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Deep understanding of general ledger

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
