The Science and Engineering Fair Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all facets of the coordination, execution, and marketing of the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET) and the Minnesota State Engineering Center of Excellence (Engineering COE) science fair events. This role ensures the effective planning, organization, and promotion of the Regional Science Fairs, aiming to enhance the Science Fair Program's impact and visibility. The coordinator's duties encompass managing logistics, enhancing participant experiences, driving program growth, and leading marketing efforts to underscore the importance of STEM education. Through dynamic leadership and strategic collaboration, this position strengthens CSET and Engineering COE's reputation as leaders in science and engineering advocacy, both locally and wider.

Minimum Qualifications

• Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person and any virtual correspondence.

• Data entry skills sufficient to read source documents and enter data in specific data fields, maintain accurate budget records and reports, compile, sort and verify data accuracy before entering.

• Accounting/budgeting/expense skills sufficient to reconcile differences between invoices, receipts and purchase orders, and estimate needs based on historical data and events affecting the account.

• Word processing skills sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, including spreadsheets, tables, charts and graphs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Organizational skills sufficient to manage concurrent planning and implementation cycles.

• Web skills sufficient to post on a website and use online social media.

• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Additional Requirements

This position requires a valid, applicable driver’s license, as well as a DVS records check with an acceptable rating. Employees must have an active, valid, and, applicable driver’s license if they drive a vehicle on state business. This position requires a passing background check under Minnesota Statutes 299C.60 to 299C.64 – Minnesota Child Protection Background Check Act.
