Position Summary

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for activities supporting EZPLAZ product introduction and manufacturing by achieving specified metrics such as yield, equipment uptime, efficiency, etc. This includes responsibility for maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions for manufacturing equipment in current and future operations at the site. As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, this individual will be responsible for identifying and completing projects that support launch, improve quality, increase capacity, and reduce cost of goods sold. As part of identifying and completing projects, this individual will be expected to effectively partner with other functions such as Quality Engineering, R&D, Process Development, Operations, Marketing, etc. In addition, this individual may be part of development teams to assist with the design and development of new production lines.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Participate in authoring, review and implementation of corrective actions related to mechanical, equipment or process deviations.

  2. Partner with maintenance to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Production, R&D, PD and Quality equipment.

  3. Create and manage project timelines, hold self and others accountable; adjust and communicate as required.

  4. Manage capital and lead equipment installations and contract projects with outside vendors including process validation.

  5. Identify and complete improvement projects that reduce: machine down time, frequency of recurring equipment issues, and labor hours. Create processes which support standardized troubleshooting and disposition.

  6. Independently operate/maintain and repair highly technical equipment as well as a broad range of equipment across production lines.

  7. Lead timely disposition of non-conformances, root cause investigations, and CAPA actions related to materials, methods, operators, equipment, and manufacturing environment.

  8. Serve as technical expert for lyophilization and manufacturing process/product technologies as well as new technologies as they transfer from Process Development into manufacturing.

  9. Assist with production management in planning of and implementing the necessary technical changes required to sustain adequate production line capacity.

  10. Create and sustain manufacturing procedures, routing travelers, and product structure BOMs that are accurate, complete, identify safety critical processes, and represent current approved best practices.

  11. Ensure production specific metrics, such as yield, equipment uptime, efficiency, etc. are met and sustained.

  12. Responsible operational procedures for manufacturing equipment including multiple freeze dryers.

  13. Use understanding and knowledge of PLC control engineering to participate in making necessary changes in process and mechanical control.

  14. Mentor manufacturing engineers and technicians.

  15. Other duties to be assigned.

Education / Experience Requirements

• BA/BS in Engineering or relevant field

• 5 years of engineering experience

• 2 Years experience with lyophilizaiton freeze dryers preferred

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ and P/DFMEA

• Experience with Six Sigma/Lean Principles is preferred

• Must have excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

• PLC knowledge and experience

• Advanced knowledge of mechanical / electrical repair of common production equipment.
