Here, you will make an impact by:Analyzing and educating key stakeholders on drivers of 3Ms effective tax rate and cash tax in a dynamic environmentProviding insight and guidance proactively to stakeholders on ASC 740 income tax accountingApplying in-depth tax technical expertise to validate global income tax reporting inputsResearching, analyzing, and documenting the ASC 740 reporting impacts of complex business transactions.Monitoring updates in global tax legislation to assess their impact on financials.Actively engaging with stakeholders in different disciplines, including FP&A, Treasury, Controllers, and Investor Relations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of 3M income tax reporting in its financial statements and press releasesDeveloping forecast models for effective tax rate and cash tax projections.Researching, analyzing, and interpreting existing and proposed guidance with respect to income tax accounting, and identifying the practical implications for the companyCollaborating with external auditors to ensure compliant income tax reporting and efficient financial statement close and SOX control processesSupervising and effectively coaching staff, training on key tax and ASC 740 conceptsDriving prioritization and process improvements in tax accountingPartnering with global tax and company personnel on special projects, as needed, expanding your network in and out of taxYour Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelors degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionTen (10) years experience in income tax in a public accounting firm or large, multi-entity corporation and key tax laws and regulations impacting multi-national corporations in public, private or military environment.Three (3) years experience in ASC 740 Income tax accounting.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Proficient in use of OneSource Tax Provision softwareProficient in use of Microsoft ApplicationsWork location:Work Your Way Eligible (Employee choice to work remote, on site, or hybrid)Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.U.S. Export Control laws and U.S. Government Department of Defense contracts and sub-contracts impose certain restrictions on companies and their ability to share export-controlled and other technology and services with certain "non-U.S. persons" (persons who are not U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., refugees, "Temporary Residents" (granted Amnesty or Special Agricultural Worker provisions), or persons granted asylum (but excluding persons in nonimmigrant status such as H-1B, L-1, F-1, etc.) or non-U.S. citizens To comply with these laws, and in conjunction with the review of candidates for those positions within 3M that may present access to export controlled technical data, 3M must assess employees' U.S. person status, as well as citizenship(s).The questions asked in this application are intended to assess this and will be used for evaluation purposes only. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
