Honeywell Mechanical Project Engineering Manager in Mason, Ohio

The Mechanical Project Engineering Manager reports to Director – IGS Mechanical Project engineering and is responsible for successful mechanical engineering execution and engineering management of all IGS projects assigned to their team. This role is also responsible to ensure time bound quality mechanical engineering deliverables meeting the customers’ expectations, driving cost, right tools and processes, value engineering & thus supporting in achieving business results - Revenue, GM, OI, and Cash flow to plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and manage the Mechanical Design process that includes but not limited to: Turnover to Implementation, Design, Design Review, Ordering, Ordering Review, install package, Install Support, Commissioning Support, Go-live support, and Turnover to customer.

  • Drive the productivity metrics for the mechanical engineering department such as: Billability, Forecast Accuracy, EAC variance < 5%, On Time Delivery, Design Quality, Ordering Quality and Drop-in orders control.

  • Execute project engineering Tiered accountability MOS on weekly cadence to ensure timely management of issues and escalations among the project execution team.

  • Define the mechanical engineering skillset required by the mechanical engineering team to execute and complete the automated supply chain projects for our customer in the markets we serve, identify skill gaps and niche skills and develop plans such as hiring, training and development to align the project engineering skills to the project demands.

  • Lead and asses a team of Mechanical Engineering Supervisors and define, assign, and track individual business goals for each direct report aligned to company’s expectation on project execution.

  • Establish professional relationships and communications with customers, Program directors, Operational leaders, Project Managers, project engineering discipline leaders, concept & estimation, ISC and Install team leaders.

  • Drive culture of change identification, change management, technical risk identification & mitigation, value engineering ideas, techniques & solutions within and across the system & project engineering organization.

  • Drive efficiencies in the project execution methodology to bring down cost and or increase the value delivered to the customer. Develop and enhance the work processes and procedure as required.

  • Actively revieFATws, monitors, and controls the projects health & the readiness compliance from the engineering perspective for the phase gate reviews. Ensures 100% compliance to phase gate reviews and all deliverables are submitted to the customer on time.

  • Ensures that required mechanical prerequisites (e.g., design inputs, tools, documentation, deliverables, schedule, budget, low-cost engineering content) are in place prior to commencing the work. Ensures that the engineered solution meets project requirements in terms of functionality, standards, quality, and supporting documentation.

  • Escalates customer feedback, internal/external risks, and schedule changes within the organization and work closely with Project managers / Program managers for possible mitigation.

  • Ensure project teams work in compliance with quality / safety procedures. Responsible for adherence to HSE Policy and Guidelines

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Mechanical Engineering

  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical design and development

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies

  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of projects 100M+ in the material handling industry

  • 5+ years’ experience managing people

  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools

  • Experience with product testing and validation

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
