Steampunk Automated Test Engineer in McLean, Virginia

Steampunk is seeking an Automated Test Engineer who will provide testing and QA expertise in mission critical work across our client base.

Responsibilities will include testing and verification of code, reporting and recording defects, coordination with architects, functional analysts, and developers on testing and testing results, documenting test scripts, participating in design reviews, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities. This individual will also work in an Agile environment and participate in scrum ceremonies and product planning activities.

Contributions

As an Automated Test Engineer , you will work with our growingDevSecOpspracticedelivering quality assurance services to support application,cloudand data systems development.Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers

  • Meet with product design team todeterminetesting parameters

  • Write test plans, create test cases, test procedures, bug reports, final QA reports for products

  • Manage test data architecture definition and requests

  • Troubleshoot errors and streamline the test procedures

  • Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results, including three or more of the following:

  • Data validation testing

  • Functional testing

  • Performance and load testing

  • Usability testing

  • Accessibility (508) testing

  • Establishing automated testing tools and infrastructure for test automation

  • Providevalidation testing ofdifferentsystem and data sets for cloud migrations

  • Develop automated testing scripts considering parallelization and idempotency

  • Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes

  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

  • Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

  • Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations 

  • Leverage virtualization and containerization tooptimizetesting software systems

  • Work with teams to bring continuous improvement to DevSecOps processes and tools

  • Engineer and implement solutions andproviderecommendations for continuous improvement for the servicesprovided

  • Present regular status updates andprovidecross training to other DevSecOps team members

  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance

  • BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience

  • At least 5 years of total experience

  • 3 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket

  • 3 Years of Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages

  • 3 Years of applicationDevSecOpsExperience with actual/active development experience in an Agile environment

  • Experienceutilizingdocker containers andutilizingplatforms such as Kubernetes

  • 3 Years of Experience implementingtest automation, using tools such asSelenium, Appium, Soap UI,RestAssured, Postman

  • Experience integrating test automation including performance, security, and functional tests into CI/CD Pipelines

  • Experience with performance and load testing

  • Experience in one or more cloud computing environments (e.g.AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • This position will require travel to the client site one time per week

Preferred:

  • Certifications:

  • CAST (CertifiedAssociate in SoftwareTesting)

  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations preferred
