MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Neurosurgery - Research in MDA-On-Site, United States

A Postdoctoral Fellowship is available in Endovascular Surgical Neuro-Oncology. The position will focus on developing novel strategies for selective blood-brain barrier disruption to augment endovascular intra-arterial delivery of cellular therapeutics for the treatment of brain cancers. We will use pre-clinical models of glioblastoma to test novel strategies to deliver mesenchymal stem cells loaded with oncolytic viruses with the opportunity for rapid translation into clinical trials in our Endovascular Surgical Neuro-Oncology program. The position requires hands-on experience in experimental surgery, cell isolation and cultures, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, single-cell molecular sequencing, light and confocal microscopy, and other biochemical and molecular techniques.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

As a laboratory within the MD Anderson Brain Tumor Center and Cancer Neuroscience Program, the research environment is highly interactive and multidisciplinary with collaborations ongoing within the institution and with world-class experts at other institutions. The postdoctoral fellow will learn to work independently as well as collaboratively to advance their career development. Opportunities to network with members of the research community will be provided by frequent interactions with collaborating labs and PIs and by presentations given at national and international conferences. The training experience will provide the postdoctoral fellow with the laboratory expertise, writing, and speaking skills to establish, an independent laboratory in academia or industry.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have been awarded a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree within the past 5 years in a related field. Experience with experimental models of neurologic disease and experimental surgery is preferred but not necessary. The ideal candidate will be held to high standards of ethics and personal integrity. They should be independent, self-motivated, innovative, and a dependable team member.

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
