Power Plant Services Customer Service Representative in Melrose Park, Illinois

Job Summary:

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) interacts with the company customer base via phone and email to identify and win part manufacturing projects for the organization. The CSR facilitates communication between the customer and internal teams to develop quotes, process orders, and coordinate logistics for the opportunities identified. The CSR's primary objective is to develop customer relationships and support functions that lead to closing of opportunities for parts manufacturing and document all activity in the customer relationship management (CRM) program.  The CSR will work with the Inside Sales and Outside Sales personnel to assist in the identification of parts, repair, and service projects for the power generation industry. Communicating with existing and prospective customers is primarily done by phone and email.   In addition to sales revenue, your performance in the position will be evaluated based on the number of quotes generated, orders received, and prospects contacted.  The position will be based in our the Melrose Park, Illinois office location with minimal to no travel. 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Contact existing and potential customers to identify part manufacturing opportunities for the company.

  • Manage and document all written and verbal customer communication including but not limited to prospecting calls, inbound RFQs, purchase orders, open sales orders, sales order status, shipping instructions, etc. 

  • Input the customer provided data and confirm information accuracy for the estimation, engineering, process, production, and shipping departments to successfully fulfill the request. 

  • Enter a new request for quote into the ERP software with all key information and confirm the data input is correct. 

  • Learn about the Company’s products and services to educate customers in hopes of additional orders in different product lines.

  • Communicate with other department staff in a timely and professional manner.

  • Cover fellow CSR’s accounts when needed, including rotating weekends (remotely)

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of successful work experience in an industrial customer service and/or inside sales (with telephone sales experience) is strongly preferred.

  • Associate degree or related collegiate coursework is preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and CRM / ERP systems.

  • Strong organization and data documentation skills.

  • Superior listening ability and resiliency in a communication driven environment.
