Job Description - Mexia Area Chamber of Commerce Coordinator
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Board of Directors
Hourly Wage: $22 per hour

Position Summary: The Chamber Coordinator provides oversight for the Strategic, Operational and Financial performance of the Chamber. Cultivates partnerships with Membership, City of Mexia, and Mexia Economic Development as directed by the Board of Directors. The Chamber Coordinator brings together and implements the many activities of the Chamber of Commerce through various committees and supervises the work of the staff in the pursuit of meeting the Chambers goals and objectives. The Chamber Coordinator will represent the Chamber and its membership in all interactions, requiring enthusiastic presence to foster good relationships. The Chamber Coordinator reports to the Chamber Board of Directors. It is the responsibility of the Chamber Coordinator to keep the Chamber Board working within the guidelines of the established By-Laws holding all accountable for following the guidance and laws found within. Hours: This is a part-time position up to 30 hours per week (that time will include but not be limited to membership engagement and some office duties). You must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and some weekends for events.
Strategic Responsibilities:
Identify and develop strategies to improve the Mexia Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. Review and update these strategies on a regular basis to determine relevance and effectiveness
Execute the Strategic plan as directed by the Chamber Board to drive the mission and vision of the Chamber
Develop and maintain a positive and helpful relationship with city and county governmental agencies, neighboring Chambers and other organizations as directed by the board of directors.
Provide oversight of Chamber Committees to ensure they are working towards Chamber goals and objectives meeting growth avenues
Recruit and retain Chamber business members by consistently providing value to the membership, the business members and cultivating ideas of how we can continuously improve membership benefits
Complete regular membership visits, ascertain the status and needs of members, evaluating the role the Chamber can play to support the individual health of its members with written updates provided to the board of directors
Develop and execute a marketing plan which leads to the following:
Creates member, community and tourist engagement through events, community involvement and promotional activities
Increased revenue for Chamber members
Generate funds to support the Chamber infrastructure
Incorporates the use of technology, marketing and social media
Implement a marketing plan for the Chamber to ensure a positive community image
Administrative/Financial Responsibilities:
Prepare a fiscal budget for Chamber Board of Directors with input from the Budget committee
Prepare accurate and timely financial records for the Chamber, including but not limited to monthly and annual financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and tax filings
Maintain expenditure within the framework of the budget
Hiring, training, supervising and mentoring Chamber Team members, Managing the dismissal when needed of team members, keeping the Employee handbook, holding employees accountable
Oversee the contractual obligations of the Chamber with other entities
Participates in continuing education opportunities to gain knowledge of how the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors center organizations can continually grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of the community
Prepare monthly board agenda and board packet for directors
Participate as an executive in Chamber committees
Maintain open communication with the Board, and work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber, bringing issues to th board in a timely manner
10.Participate in higher level membership and sponsorship sales
Identify and develop revenue generation programs and events
Oversee organization of Chambers Annual Retreat and Events
Operate within and advance the policies of the Chamber
Keep and maintain employee timecards for board information
