Framingham Public Schools Adult ESL Instructor in Milford, Massachusetts

TITLE: Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher, Part-time Stacy Middle School, 66 School St, Milford, MA POSITION SUMMARY: The ESL teacher provides reading, writing, speaking, listening, and computer instruction to students 17 and older with limited reading, writing, speaking, or comprehension skills in English. Duties include planning and delivering lessons, monitoring and assessing student progress on an ongoing basis, participating in the intake process as requested, and collecting, recording and reporting all necessary information related to students in a timely manner. This position is onsite. This position is reliant on grant funding, with funds secured through the 2023-2024 year. This position pays 1:1 prep time. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Teaching Certification is preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: At least a Bachelor\'s Degree in the area of major study. Experience leading online instruction. Experience/training with students at this grade level; experience/training in sheltered English instruction; experience with MA ELSP Standards and the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Ed; experience/training with non-native speakers; experience/training working with adults learners; Bilingual Portugues or Spanish. Good computer skills, ability to work independently, strong communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively with others. This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee, and is subject to change by the employer, as the needs of the employer and the requirements of the job change. \ Plans, organizes, and provides instruction in English aligned to the FAESL Curriculum. \ Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. \ Creates and develops curriculum, lesson plans, and teaching materials to aid students in developing skills and confidence in basic academic areas. \ Monitors and assesses students\' progress on a regular basis. Differentiates instruction as needed. \ Engage in paid professional development. \ Collects, records and reports all necessary information related to students in a timely manner. \ Assists in gathering and reporting data for reporting requirements and other required reports \ Assists in developing appropriate curriculum to help ELL students acquire the English language. \ New staff will work with Peer Mentors their first year (paid time) Other Duties: \ Participates in staff meetings. \ Participates in professional development as appropriate to the position. \ Actively participates in planning to assure participants\' needs are being effectively addressed. \ Contributes productively to the school as a whole.
